XVA presents new work by London and Dubai-based mixed-media artist Al Braithwaite, for his third solo show in the Emirate. Transgressions includes painting, cabinetry, drawing and the use of repurposed European antiques and re-arranged objects. Variously ambivalent and self-contained, Transgressions takes seemingly familiar objects and allows them to be re-indexed and relocated. Braithwaite's art is curiously vulnerable and yet robust, focusing on themes of displacement and re-accommodation.
